This was standard thread. I did not realize that the bow ring that I bought was metric. I never even thought metric. I assumed that all Boston Whaler products were standard. The bow ring that I purchased somewhere else must have been a product of China but your product was perfectly fine had I had an American made bow ring.

Store owner replied: Hi Karl! I think you are spot on about what happened. We do carry full 316 eyes if you need to switch out the other ones.

When installing the shaft for the bow/lifting eye, the bow eye turns as the lifting eye is used in tighting both eyes. To prevent the shaft turning in the bow eye, I flattened some the threat 3/16" from the end, so it could be easily threaded. It WORKS!

Don't want to nitpic but the threads were not finely cut...the tow/eye fitting screwed on but not w/o a drop of oil and some pliers (on towels) work. And to top it off I found, maybe the only one, a fine shred of steel on the tip of the bolt and managed to slice my finger. So, there. I feel better venting. Boat looking good though!

Store owner replied: Sorry for the delay in response on this! Yes, we do that as well unfortunately. The manufacturer sends us the box of these parts with just about shaving that was created during the cutting process and we clean them as best we can before delivering them to you. I apologize you got a knick!

Had to cut about 1 - 1.25 inches off for it to fit my 16’7 1971 Boston Whaler Nauset. Other than it being too long, excellent quality and worked great! Will definitely continue to purchase from here!
